Where stories bring heritage to life

We use storytelling, music, and performance to share African-Caribbean and British heritage in ways that connect communities, spark empathy, and celebrate identity. Our events are immersive, inclusive, and designed for all ages — opening up history as something to feel, not just learn.

A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.

Marcus Mosiah Garvey (1887 - 1940)

Laura Ige

Laura Ige is a heritage practitioner, storyteller, and performer with a background in museums, schools, and performing arts. Inspired by her own African-Caribbean and British heritage, she uses the power of story and song to connect people across cultures and generations.

I began my heritage journey following the passing of my father. I recognised the ‘web’ of cultural, environmental and natural connections that heritage encompasses.

Connecting with our heritage has a direct impact on our health and wellbeing, nurturing and reinforcing our sense of identity and belonging. Equally, heritage can also trigger adverse emotions, depending on the subject that is being addressed. Heritage work must be practiced through an inclusive, trauma-informed lens.

Sharing stories about human experiences is a powerful way to relate to each other. It promotes empathy and empowers those who are otherwise unseen and unheard.

What They Say

Our group loved the storytelling and energy! The visual presentation helped give them a deeper understanding of Miss Lou’s journey. Once again, thanks for the engagement — I definitely hope to work with you again in the future as it would be good for the deaf community.

The Wonderful Miss Lou event was an uplifting, shared experience. Caribbean history needs to be shared throughout the community.

Laura Ige gave a wonderful performance. Her voice captivated the room and made our Christmas Extravaganza feel truly special. The ladies were so engaged that many got up and joined her, creating a beautiful, joyful atmosphere.
